چکیده

The quality of case data can be an important factor for a Case Based Reasoning (CBR) system. In this paper, we report an experimental study in using domain knowledge to help case-based diagnosis in a product maintenance context. For the problem we are facing, cases are based on the descriptions of customers who have little knowledge of their products. As each case can be associated with some domain knowledge provided by domain experts, we try to use the domain knowledge to assist case matching. Our experimental results show that the domain knowledge can significantly improve the performance of the case-based diagnosis.

Explanation-Based Similarity: A Unifying Approach for Integrating Domain Knowledge into Case-Based Reasoning for Diagnosis and Planning Tasks

Case-based problem solving can be signiicantly improved by applying domain knowledge (in opposition to problem solving knowledge), which can be acquired with reasonable eeort, to derive explanations of the correctness of a case. Such explanations, constructed on several levels of abstraction, can be employed as the basis for similarity assessment as well as for adaptation by solution reenement....

Using Domain Knowledge to Boost Case-Based Diagnosis: An Experimental Study in a Domain with Very Poor Data Quality

The quality of case data can be an important factor for a Case Based Reasoning (CBR) system. In our research, we are facing a diagnostic problem in a product maintenance domain, where a large volume of low quality case data is collected. In this paper, we report an experimental study of whether using domain knowledge can improve the performance of either non-diversified or diversified retrieval...
